Renewable energy

Although renewable energy has been around for years, only recently have companies started to invest the time and money to truly trying to utilize this type of energy. A couple of the types of renewable energy that are available, but also being further explored are:

• Solar energy – You have doubtless used solar energy before. For example, most people have used a solar calculator at one time or another. This type of renewable energy works on the premise that as long as the sun emits UV rays, then there is enough energy in the earth’s atmosphere to give people the energy they need. While there are homes and cars that have started to use this type of renewable energy, there is still quite a bit of research to be done to make the collection of this energy more efficient.

• Wind energy – You may have seen huge metallic windmills and home wind turbines and wonder what purpose they serve. In most cases, these windmills exist to provide another source of energy for those who need it. The U.S. federal government has offered subsidies and tax credits to power companies that explore this type of wind energy. In fact, many power companies are using this kind of renewable energy, but they are having problems in the collection process. The biggest problem is the fact that the required wind turbines are large and take up a lot of space. Some power companies have balked at paying all the money required to purchase all the land required to collect wind energy.

There are still things to be worked out with the collection and distribution of these types of renewable energy, but both types are much more common now than they ever were before.
